Persatuan Warganegara Malaysia successfully organised its “Gongxi Raya 2026” celebration on 24 April 2026 at Dewan Salma, bringing together over 200 members, families and advisors of the association in a vibrant evening of cultural unity and fellowship.
The event was graciously attended by Datuk Mohd Aini Atan, the High Commissioner of Malaysia to Brunei Darussalam and Patron of PWM, accompanied by Datin Zaiedah Mohamed Esa.
For the first time in many years, PWM combined the celebrations of Chinese New Year and Hari Raya Aidilfitri into a single occasion under the theme of unity and harmony, reflecting the multicultural spirit and strong camaraderie among Malaysians residing in the Sultanate.
Adding a meaningful touch to the celebration, PWM also invited special students from Pusat Ehsan Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam to join in the festivities and experience the warmth of togetherness shared by the Malaysian community.
Guests were treated to a delightful spread of both Chinese and Malay cuisines, symbolising the rich cultural diversity celebrated during the event. The evening was further enlivened with entertaining performances presented by PWM Executive Committee members and association members, showcasing talents and promoting stronger community bonds.
In his remarks, PWM expressed appreciation to all attendees, supporters and volunteers who contributed towards the success of the event. The association also reaffirmed its commitment to continue organising inclusive community programmes that strengthen friendship, cultural understanding and unity among Malaysians in Brunei Darussalam.
The “Gongxi Raya 2026” celebration successfully highlighted the spirit of mutual respect, harmony and togetherness that continues to unite the Malaysian community across different backgrounds and cultures.
