PWM participate in the Merdeka Bersama Malaysian Diaspora gathering organised by the High Commission of Malaysia in Kuala Belait on 27 September 2026, in conjunction with Malaysia’s 69th National Day and Malaysia Day 2026. Held at the Panaga Club, the gathering brought together more than 150 Malaysians from various backgrounds who are residing and working in the Belait District. The event, themed “Malaysia MADANI, Kesejahteraan Dinikmati,” began with the singing of Negaraku, followed by the recitation of the Rukun Negara pledge led by SSjn Kamarudin Nai’me Mohammad Zul.

The gathering also featured an address by High Commissioner of Malaysia to Brunei Darussalam, His Excellency Datuk Mohd Aini Atan, who encouraged Malaysians living abroad to remain united and committed to preserving the spirit of independence while contributing positively towards a progressive, safe and prosperous Malaysia.

President Azlan Ahmad said the gathering provided an important platform for Malaysians in Brunei to strengthen their sense of community and maintain close ties with the Malaysian High Commission and fellow Malaysians. “PWM appreciates the High Commission’s continued efforts to engage with the Malaysian diaspora across Brunei. Events such as this provide an important opportunity for Malaysians from different backgrounds to come together, share information and strengthen our bonds as a community. As Malaysians living abroad, we can continue to support one another while contributing positively to the close relationship between Malaysia and Brunei,” said Azlan.

He added that PWM remains committed to supporting initiatives that bring Malaysians together and strengthen cooperation among Malaysian associations, businesses, professionals and the wider Malaysian community in Brunei. The High Commission has previously highlighted diaspora engagement as an important platform for understanding the concerns of Malaysians living in Brunei and for sharing relevant government initiatives.
