In celebration of Malaysia’s 68th National Day, the Malaysia High Commission in Brunei Darussalam and Persatuan Warganegara Malaysia (PWM) successfully organised the Malaysia Day Golf Tournament 2025 on Sunday, 19 October 2025 at Pantai Mentiri Golf Club. The prestigious event was graced by the Guest of Honour – The Honourable Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (R) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Md Yussof, Second Minister of Defence and Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office Brunei Darussalam, who commended the organisers for fostering camaraderie and goodwill between Malaysia and Brunei through sports diplomacy.
This year’s tournament brought together nearly 50 golf enthusiasts comprising members of the Malaysian community, PWM Exco, Bruneian guests and corporate partners. The event aimed to promote friendship and unity through the spirit of golf, symbolising the close relationship between the two neighbouring nations. In welcoming remarks, His Excellency Datuk Mohd Aini Atan, the High Commissioner of Malaysia to Brunei Darussalam expressed his appreciation to all participants and sponsors for their strong support. He highlighted that such initiatives not only strengthen people-to-people relations but also enhance cooperation.
The tournament received generous support from corporate sponsors including Tourism Malaysia, SUCI Water (TLT Enterprise), BMW Brunei (QAF Auto), RHB Bank, Komala Tyres, Syarikat Malar Setia, Straits Central Agencies, AEWON Garment & Embroidery, Rokiyah Agency, Processta Printing, Amanah Harith Restaurant & Catering, SCC, e-ISB and MIXEL (MixMedia).
The day concluded with a prize presentation ceremony and luncheon. The Novelty and Lucky Draw prizes were presented by PWM President, Mr. Azlan Ahmad to the winners, adding excitement and joy to the closing of the tournament. Participants celebrated the event’s success in a lively and friendly atmosphere, reflecting the spirit of unity and togetherness shared by both nations.
