The air was filled with cheers, teamwork, and friendly rivalry at the BIBD Badminton Hall, PPGMB Building, as the ASEAN Inter-Association Badminton Tournament 2025 concluded successfully! Initiated and proudly hosted by the Malaysian Association (PWM), this inaugural tournament brought together six teams representing Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand, the Philippines, and Brunei Darussalam. Players competed across four exciting categories: Men’s Singles, Women’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, and Mixed Doubles.
“On behalf of the organising committee, I extend our sincerest appreciation to all teams, players, and supporters who made this inaugural ASEAN Inter-Association Badminton Tournament a success. This event was more than a competition; it was a celebration of unity, friendship, and a shared love for the sport,” said Mr. Azlan Ahmad, President of PWM and Chairman of the event.
In the thrilling final, Team Brunei Darussalam claimed the inaugural ASEAN Friendly Trophy after an impressive performance against Team Indonesia, showcasing skill, teamwork, and determination until the last rally. Meanwhile, Team Thailand secured third place, narrowly edging out the Philippines in a closely contested match.
PWM hopes this tournament will grow into an annual tradition, strengthening bonds among ASEAN community associations in Brunei while promoting unity, friendship, and the joy of sports. The 2025 edition, spearheaded by PWM, marked a historic first step toward fostering camaraderie and friendly competition.
